Nemanja Vidic made an eagerly-awaited comeback from his cruciate operation in Norway on Sunday.
United played out a 0-0 draw with Valerenga in Oslo, Vidic managed to play for an hour of the game.
It will be a while before he is fully up to speed, but as he suffered no problems, he will take part in the game against Barcelona on Wednesday.

Nemanja Vidic has admitted it will be a few weeks yet before he is back to top form.
The Manchester United skipper made an eagerly-awaited comeback from his cruciate operation in Norway on Sunday. Vidic managed an hour of the 0-0 friendly draw with Valerenga in Oslo without a problem and is expected to play on Wednesday, when United take on Barcelona in Gothenburg.

Anders Lindegaard has signed a new four-year contract with Manchester United.
The Denmark goalkeeper has made a big impression at Old Trafford and had become Sir Alex Ferguson’s first choice until he suffered a serious ankle injury in January.
He has since returned to full fitness and will be part of the United squad that heads to Scandinavia for the next leg of their pre-season tour this weekend.

Nemanja Vidic could end eight months out of the game when United take on Norwegian side Valerenga on Sunday.
The Serb has been out of the game since he injured cruciate knee ligaments back in December when United lost to FC Basel.
There was talk of him not being back for the start of the new season, but it now looks like he could be ready to play in a pre-season friendly or two, although he did miss United’s tour of South Africa and China.

Both Manchester United and Arsenal have joined in the race to sign Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama.
Scouts from each club watched the Kenyan, in Celtic’s 1-0 defeat by Norwich on Tuesday.
Wanyama has voiced his frustration at being played out of position in defence, rather than defensive midfield and it is thought he is keen to move to England.
